Elevating Stories, Cultivating Resilience

how we got here,

Since graduating from my master in Global black studies, having focused my research on the Grenadian revolution and the Jab Jab; I had almost some what of  a calling to do something with all the knowledge i have gathered over the years both as a 'caribbean scholar', carnivalist, daughter of the diaspora and through my lived experience as a South London born Trinidadian.

I wanted to create a space where knowledge on our history and culture could be centre of conversation, shared, experienced and enjoyed by EVERYONE not just those who had gone to university.

Being raised predominately by Grandma and other old Trinidadians, the concept of community, storytelling, folklore and calypso act as my foundations and have been the avenues in which i have acquired majority of my knowledge. Thus being why i wanted to create a platform based on those exact same things.

jumbie griot, is a community space dedicated to Caribbean culture, knowledge and conversation.
